Add Riders, Set Pickup & Drop-off, and Skip a Trip

Opening the Ride Screen

  1. Tap an event on your dashboard or in a carpool
  2. The ride screen opens with two tabs:

    • To (green) — rides to the event
    • From (blue) — rides home from the event
  3. The Riders row shows everyone riding. A green check means they're riding that direction; a crossed-out avatar means they're not.

Adding a Rider

  1. In the Riders row, tap the + tile
  2. Pick an existing rider from the list, or tap New Rider to create a new one
  3. The rider is added to the trip you're on
  4. In a carpool with Automatically add riders to all events on (the default), they also ride every other trip, with no extra step
  5. With it off, add the rider to each trip on its own

Tip: Tap any rider's avatar to open that rider's card already expanded, so you can adjust their settings right away.

Setting Pickup and Drop-off Locations

Pickup and drop-off are set separately on each tab:

  • Pickup → on the To tab, the rider's card shows Pickup location
  • Drop-off → on the From tab, the rider's card shows Drop-off location

To set one:

  1. Open the tab for the direction you want (To or From)
  2. Tap the rider's avatar to expand their card
  3. Tap Pickup location or Drop-off location
  4. Choose Just this trip or Every trip in the carpool
  5. Tap a place, or tap Add Location to add a new one without leaving the screen

Not set means the rider has no place yet. Tap Use the usual place to undo a change.

You can also set places from the Ride Organizer or from the carpool's riders. See How to Set Where a Rider Is Picked Up or Dropped Off for every way to do it.

Choosing Which Car a Rider Is In

Each rider's card shows a Ride with list with the drivers for that trip.

  1. Expand the rider's card
  2. Tap Ride with
  3. Pick a driver (drivers whose car is full are shown as Full)

If no one is driving that day yet, the card says No drivers available for this day.

Skipping a Trip for One Rider

When a rider can't make it:

  1. Expand the rider's card
  2. Turn off Riding this trip
  3. If the rider rides both directions, you'll be asked:
    • Just This Trip — removes them from only the current direction (To or From)
    • Both Trips (To & From) — removes them from both
    • Cancel — leave everything as-is

If the rider only rides one direction, the switch turns off immediately with no prompt.

To bring them back, simply turn Riding this trip back on.

Skipping a Whole Day or Managing Many Riders at Once

For bulk changes or skipping an entire occurrence, use the Ride Organizer :

  1. On the ride screen, tap the ⋮ menu → Ride Organizer
  2. Find the day's card. From its ⋮ menu you can:

    • Edit Riders — pick To and From riders in one place
    • Skip This Day — cancel the whole event for that date (optionally add a reason)
  3. Use Restore This Day later to bring a skipped day back

Tips

  • With Automatically add riders to all events on (the default), riders ride every trip once added, so you only act when someone can't ride.
  • You'll find that setting on the carpool's Edit Carpool screen.
  • Choose Every trip in the carpool to set a rider's place once for all future trips, or Just this trip for a one-off change.
  • A red seat count on a driver means their car is full or over capacity — move a rider to another car or skip a trip.
