How to fix late reminders or entries that don't sync

Reminders come from Doggy Time on your phone, and new entries from your family's phones arrive in the background. Some phones stop apps from running in the background to save battery. Then reminders are late or only show when you open the app, and new entries only appear after you open it.

Check that you are signed in

Entries only sync while you are signed in. If the main screen shows You're signed out on this phone, see I was signed out of Doggy Time.

On Android

  1. Allow exact alarms. If the main screen shows Reminders may be delayed. Allow exact alarms in Settings so they fire on time., tap Open Settings and turn the switch on. If you tapped Not Now before, open your phone's Settings, go to "Apps", then "Doggy Time", and turn on "Alarms & reminders".
  2. Let Doggy Time run in the background. Open your phone's Settings, go to "Apps", then "Doggy Time", then "Battery" (on some phones "App battery usage"). Choose "Unrestricted". If you see "Allow background activity" or "Allow background usage", turn it on.
  3. Allow notifications. In "Apps" > "Doggy Time" > "Notifications", make sure notifications are on.

Some phones, like Samsung, Xiaomi and Huawei, also have their own battery saver or "sleeping apps" list. If Doggy Time is on it, take it off.

On iPhone

  1. Open the Settings app and tap "Doggy Time".
  2. Tap "Notifications" and turn on "Allow Notifications".
  3. Go back and turn on "Background App Refresh".

Low Power Mode can also delay background updates until you open the app.
