Chore Boss offers two flexible reward systems that families can choose based on their preferences:
1. Allowance-Based Rewards (Money)
- Children earn actual monetary amounts for completing chores
- Money accumulates in a virtual piggy bank
- Parents can set specific dollar amounts per chore or weekly allowances
- Settlements track when allowances are paid out to children
- Perfect for teaching real-world money management skills
2. Points-Based Rewards (Custom Rewards)
- Children earn points instead of money for completing chores
- Points can be redeemed for custom rewards defined by parents
- Parents set point values for chores and point requirements for rewards
- Custom rewards can be anything: extra screen time, special treats, outings, etc.
- Redemptions are tracked through the settlement system
- Great for younger children or families preferring non-monetary incentives
How It Works
For Each Chore:
- When creating/editing a chore, parents select the reward type
- Rewards can be awarded immediately upon completion or accumulated weekly
- The reward is automatically credited when the chore is marked complete
Account Settings:
- Each home/account can be configured for either points or allowance mode
- This setting determines the default reward type for all chores in that home
Tracking & Settlements:
- Settlements handle both allowance payments and points redemptions
- Parents can view accumulated rewards and process payments/redemptions through the rewards screen
This dual system gives families maximum flexibility to choose the motivation method that works best for their children's ages and family values.
How To Update Settings
- From the main screen tap the 3 dots at top right
- Tap on "My Account"
- Select the home you want to make changes for
- Tap the 3 dots at top right
- Select "Settings"
- Update the Reward Type to either "Allowance" or "Points"
- You can also select which Currency to use with your Allowance based rewards
