How to track progress and Family Insights

The Progress tab shows how your family is doing with chores this week, and who did what.

See this week's progress

  1. Tap the Progress tab.
  2. At the top, This Week shows the current week. Tap the back arrow to see earlier weeks, and the forward arrow to come back. You can't go past this week.

The Family Progress card shows:

  • Tasks Done: tasks completed out of all tasks due that week.
  • Members active: how many members completed at least one task.
  • Complete: the share of the week's tasks that are done.

See progress by person or by chore

Below the card, tap By Member or By Chore.

Each member's card shows:

  • How many tasks they did, for example "3 tasks this week".
  • Earned this week, with "of ..." for what they could earn that week, and "... missed" for what missed chores took. This shows for members with Earn Rewards on.
  • A row of days with the number of tasks done each day:
    • Yellow: something was done.
    • Red: a past day when something was due but nothing was done.
    • Grey: it's still due, or nothing was due ("-").
    • Today has an outline.
  • In the current week, a small badge on their picture when they've done chores 2 or more days in a row. Press and hold it to see the streak, for example "4-day streak".

Each chore's card shows who it's assigned to, how often it was done out of how often it was due, for example "2 of 5 done", and the same row of days.

Tap a card to see that week's timeline of completed tasks, photos and flags, grouped by day. Tap See all history to see every week, or This week only to go back. Tap an entry in the timeline to see that chore's tasks for the day.

On that screen, a Household Manager can flag a task that wasn't really done. See How to flag a task as incomplete.

On a kid's profile, the Progress tab shows only that kid and the other kids who earn rewards, the same people as the Rewards tab.

Family Insights

Family Insights are short summaries, written by AI, about how your family is doing with chores.

How insights are created

Chore Boss creates insights for you automatically. It looks at the last 30 days of completed chores.

A new insight is created when:

  • You are signed in and online.
  • There are at least 5 completed chores in the last 30 days, for your first insight.
  • At least 3 days have passed since the last insight.
  • At least 5 chores were completed since the last insight.

You may get a notification when a new insight is ready.

Read an insight

  1. Tap the Progress tab.
  2. The latest Family Insight shows at the bottom of the Family Progress card.
  3. Tap it to open Family Insights and read the whole insight.

Reading the whole insight needs premium. Without premium, you see a short preview, and tapping it shows the upgrade options.

Create a new insight yourself

  1. Open Family Insights.
  2. Tap Generate New Insight.

The same rules apply, so you can only create a new one after 3 days and 5 more completed chores.

Tell us what you think

Under each insight, answer How helpful was this insight? and tap Send.

Troubleshooting

  • "Please wait a few more days before generating a new insight." It has been less than 3 days since your last insight, or fewer than 5 chores were completed since then. Keep completing chores and try again later.
  • "Not enough chore completions to generate an insight. Keep completing chores!" Your family needs to complete more chores first.
  • "Unable to generate insight. Please try again later." Check your internet connection and try again later.
  • I don't see a Family Insight on the Progress tab. Your first insight appears once your family has completed at least 5 chores in the last 30 days. Make sure you are signed in, and open the app while online.
  • The progress numbers look wrong. Check that you are looking at the right week at the top of the Progress tab.
